After completing building your structure, you need to apply to the municipality to occupy the building.

After submission of building plans for consideration, you can apply for provisional authorization to commence or proceed with the erection of a building prior approval of the submitted building plan.

Application to erect a temporary structure- it is a form used to request permission  from the municipality to erect a temporary structure (STAGE STRUCTURES, MARQUEES TENTS, CIRCUS STRUCTURES, EXHIBITION & SHOW STRUCTURES ETC.)

Appointment of engineer - is required for structural steel, structural timber, reinforced concrete, unconventional roof trusses and where otherwise required, this form must be submitted together with the building plans.

Application forms, together with the proof of income and proof of home ownership, must be submitted to the nearest Customer Care Centre. 

Application for assessment rates rebate in respect of  unimproved stands with the zoning of “Z.A.R.”, “general residential” or “residential 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 (residential 5-for residential purposes only)” or “Special for residential purposes only” in terms of a town-planning scheme and on which a dwelling unit(s) is/are being constructed.

Application forms, together with the proof of income and proof of home ownership, must be submitted to the nearest Customer Care Centre. 

Application for pensioner rebate in respect of Residential property rates if owner of property.

Application forms, together with the proof of income and proof of home ownership, must be submitted to the nearest Customer Care Centre. 

Application for disabled or medically boarded rebate in respect of Residential property rates if owner of property.

Application forms, together with the proof of income and proof of home ownership, must be submitted to the nearest Customer Care Centre. 

Application for rebate in respect of property rates if sporting body is owner of property. Properties used for amateur sport or social activities may qualify for rebate.

Application forms, together with the proof of income and proof of home ownership, must be submitted to the nearest Customer Care Centre. 

Application for rebate in respect of property rates if organization is registered as such and receives Income Tax exemption.

Application forms, together with the proof of income and proof of home ownership, must be submitted to the nearest Customer Care Centre. 

Application for rebate in respect of properties registered in name of private and / or independent primary and secondary schools, universities and colleges and crèches. Must be registered as educational institution.

Application for rebate in respect of property rates if organization is registered in terms of National Welfare Act.

Completion Certificate- it is a form required by the municipality from the appointed engineer before issuing of a certificate of occupancy.

Application to demolish a building- it is a form used to request permission  from the municipality to demolish a building.

Submission of building plans- it is form used when submitting a building plan to the municipality for consideration.

Plumbing compliance certificate- this form must be completed by a qualified plumber after installation of drainage pipes.

In terms of section 17(1) (i) of the Municipal property rates act, 2004, the Council may not levy a rate on a property registered in the name of and used primarily as a place of public worship by a religious community, including an official residence registered in the name of that community 13 which is occupied by an office-bearer of that community who officiates at services at that place of worship.

This form must be filled in by any company that what to do business with Ekurhuleni, but is not register yet as a supplier.

The following source documents need to need to be send with the form on submission:

• Valid Tax clearance
• Company registration
• Proof of banking details on company name
• Latest statement of Water and lights account or Lease agreement
• Certified Identity copies of Shareholders
• Proof of reference for previous experience if any.
