Sparks are expected to fly on Saturday, August 25 when Zantsi’s Showtime Boxing Promotion (SBP) and the City of Ekurhuleni host an all women boxing tournament dubbed “Power to the Women” at the Brakpan Indoor Sports Centre.

With the Olympic hype still fresh in the air, boxing lovers will be treated to nonstop action when Gabisile Tshabalala (SAChamp Gauteng) takes on Nomvelo Mgcaba (Challenger KZN) in the SA Junior Feather Weight 55,34kg main bout (Title Fight) while Bukiwe Nonina(SA Champ North West) will square up with Precious Mphahlele (Challenger Limpopo) in the Main Support Bout, SA Bantam Title Fight. Seven more fights are billed for the day WITH AN ELIMINATION BOUT.

The tournament forms part of Women’s Month celebrations and serves to acknowledge and recognise women who have played a significant role in taking South Africa from colonization to liberation, women whose legacy continues to inspire the nation, women who played a pivotal role in our struggle for democracy and also in fighting all forms of discrimination against women, whilst encouraging those that still need a big push to appreciate their strength, their ability to multitask and still give their best to the world.

This is the second year that SBP and the City of Ekurhuleni partnered to host the showpiece after the successful hosting of the tournament last year. It features female officials as referees, judges, time keepers, ring announcer and promoters.

Entrance for women and children is free and R20.00 for men
