Physical inactivity is widely regarded as one of the key contributing factors to non-communicable diseases such as hypertension, cardiovascular diseases, diabetes mellitus and cancer.
In encouraging an active lifestyle, the City of Ekurhuleni, in partnership with Gauteng provincial government, will on Wednesday, May 10, at Tsakane Stadium celebrate World Move for Your Health Day.
The event starts with a 3km fun walk from the stadium at 08:00 and ends at the corner of Tsakane and Banana roads. This will be followed by an aerobics session and participation in different sporting codes including soccer, pass the ball, ring hopping and rugby throw.
Health screening for hypertension, pap smear and testing for signs of non-communicable disease will be conducted throughout the day.
