This national water day saw learners from Khehlekile Primary School in Thokoza take a pledge to save one of nature's resource that has no substitute – water.
Emerging from a period of drought and water restrictions, the City of Ekurhuleni yesterday, 22 March kick started its national water week activations, celebrated from 20 - 27 March, under the theme Pledge with us to Save Water Now.
The city's water and sanitation officials will conduct practical tutorials to local car washes, schools and businesses about the scarcity of water, how to repair and identify household water leaks. Khehlekile Primary School is one of the schools visited.
Demonstrations on waterless car washing methods will also be carried out this week, along with door-to-door activations where water leaks will be identified.
The City of Ekurhuleni and Rand Water's officials will on Friday, 24 March, also interact with taxi commuters, owners and queue marshals during a roadshow at Sangweni taxi rank in Tembisa about the importance of water.
