In the process of completing his studies in public administration, Clr Mocca Makwaka already has certificates in public administration, project management and municipal finance. The newly appointed councillor and Member of the Mayoral Committee for finance, has been a councillor since 2000. During this time he has served on the following committees: finance, human resources, audit, sport, recreation, arts and culture, multi-party and rules. He was also a previous chief whip of council. It was during the 80s that he became involved in politics and he sat on various UDF and MDM sub-committees and was part of the leading team to revive student and youth formations in Alexandra and Katlehong after the 1986 repression. This MMC has served on the ANC branch Executive Committee and was a founding member of Ekululo Education programme which was established to rehabilitate schools. He was part of the team that assisted in integrating the SDU/SPU to society after the struggle. He sees this term of office that he wants to achieve the building of better communities through facilitating in job creation, providing better services and moving towards economic growth.
