From the University of KwaZulu-Natal Clr Eddie Taylor received an MSc Chem Tech and the self employed consultant has been a councillor since 2000. During this time he has sat on the local economic development, city planning, tourism, finance and rules committee portfolios. Politics took a front seat in 1961 and he got involved by joining the Progressive Party and has been a member of the PRP, PFP and DP political parties and was a founder member of the DA. Clr Taylor has taught Maths and Science to pre and post 1976 Soweto students and regards himself as a born and bred liberal democrat and anti-apartheid campaigner. He aims to leave Ekurhuleni a better place for all residents by the end of his terms as a result of his work.
