The City of Ekurhuleni is calling on mid-careers visual artists from the Kathorus area to submit their artworks for the upcoming 30 I 30 art exhibition before Friday, February 10.

Contemporary artists from Katlehong, Thokoza, Vosloorus and surrounding areas are invited to submit their dynamic, inventive and provocative pieces at the Springs Art Gallery before 16.30 on Friday. Works in any medium – sculpture, photography, drawing, painting, printmaking, illustration, installation, graphic design, video etc. – are welcome.

This year marks the second anniversary of the 30 I 30, an exhibition which showcases 30 artworks by 30 artists who are based within Ekurhuleni borders. The show aims to create public awareness about the visual arts in the region by providing an opportunity for ordinary people to see and appreciate artwork, free of charge.

Artists are urged to submit one piece of original artwok and are encouraged to include a brief 250-word synopsis outlining the central idea or concept. Digital images must have details of their size and medium used and for installations; special installation requirements must be included. Artists should also submit a brief profile of themselves and the cost price of the work.

“Although entries are open to artists from all over the Metro, we are currently reaching out to those in the Kathorus area as there have been few entries from that highly talented area,” explains Metro spokesperson Justice Mohale.

The actual exhibition will take place from Saturday February 25 to March 30.
