The City of Ekurhuleni is pleased to announce its latest exhibition “30 I 30” which is to open next week Saturday, February 25, at the Springs Art Gallery at 16:00.
It is a group art exhibition that highlights works of emerging, mid-career and established Ekurhuleni based artists who embody the diversity of the community – varying in age, gender, background, neighbourhood, media and level of recognition. The theme “30|30” explores how artists reach beyond boundaries of geography, ethnicity, tradition, media or other perceived limitations through art, as they continually expand their personal and artistic vision and horizons.
Newcomers worth watching or artists to watch for in the near future and underrated, unsung heroes in the periphery who have constantly produced excellent work, even though they have not yet caught the eyes of big curators will also be featured in the show.
The display will be accompanied by a catalogue to record the exhibition and to add to the body of knowledge, which is much needed by schools and art patrons. Through this exhibition the City of Ekurhuleni is presenting these artists with an opportunity to be recognized.
The project is designed to bring together and is open to scholars, educators, curators, gallery owners, practicing artists and anyone else who is interested in happenings in and around Ekurhuleni.
