Participate in the review of Ekurhuleni’s long term spatial plan
The City Development Department is in the process of reviewing the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Spatial Development Framework (MSDF).
The purpose of the MSDF is to indicate to members of the public and others with an interest in the city, the desired long term proposals which will affect the Spatial form for the entire Ekurhuleni area. The MSDF forms the basis of planning documents controlling land development. It shows different areas of land uses and sets policies which development proposals will have to conform to. The MSDF is also intended to provide a basis for coordinating public and private development, land management and expenditure and is a tool for spatial reconfiguration (of the current exclusive city form). The MSDF indicate areas that need to be protected in terms of Biodiversity principals as well as the Urban Edge limitations whilst guiding public infrastructure investments at all levels of government.
As part of this MSDF review process, the Executive Director City Development invites all Ekurhuleni residents, property owners and other stake holders to participate in the review process. In the spirit of objective input and participation, all interested and effected parties are herewith requested to submit their views on the long term spatial development of Ekurhuleni. Input must focus on strategic development issues aimed at the long term (25 year horizon) development of Ekurhuleni. The MSDF does not address operational issues, not does it address localized planning issues. Operational matters and localized planning issues must be reported through the normal Customer Care Center and/or IDP systems.
Written input and/or views can be handed in at the office of your closest Customer Care Area Manager, or it can be faxed to 086 623 0483. Input and/or views must please be marked: ‘MSDF Views’ and must please be submitted before 15 December 2010.
All Ekurhuleni residents, property owners and other stake holders who wish to participate further in the MSDF Review, must please provide their name, contact phone number and email address (if any) in order to be registered as an interested and effected party. Such registration must please be submitted before 15 December 2010.
