The Executive Mayor of Ekurhuleni, Cllr Mzwandile Masina through the Siyaqhuba Mayoral programme, will join millions of South Africans in celebrating and honouring Nelson Mandela on his centenary. Given the humanitarian values he espoused and his steadfast commitment towards uniting a nation, it has become an entrenched culture to use Tata Madiba's birthday to reach out to those in need within our communities.
The City's officials led by the Executive Mayor will use Nelson Mandela day (18 July) to assist members of the Daveyton and Tembisa community. The procession will commence in the morning with the Mayor together with the Chief Whip of Council, Cllr Jongizizwe Dlabathi handing over a newly refurbished home to a child headed household in Daveyton. The Team will head to Tembisa to refurbish a house of an elderly, Mr. Sishi, who is a pensioner living with his two sons. The day will finish off with a birthday celebration for Gogo Matiisetso who turns 92.
