WASTE COLLECTION SERVICE AUDIT
Starting on 10 July, the City will conduct an audit on its waste collection service over the next six months.
Delta Built Environment Consultants (Pty) Ltd (Delta BEC) is appointed to carry out the audit in formalised households and businesses in the following areas:
Customer Care Area
This campaign is coined 'Siyahlanganisa', which means 'to gather information, together with the community'. The audit will see door-to-door surveys at all households and businesses in order to understand the waste service that is currently rendered and to establish if all households and businesses were issued with the new 240lℓ wheelie bin.
The information required during the audit regarding the individual premises/service points includes:
Full name of owner/occupier
Work, home and cellular phone
Municipal Account Number
Type of services rendered (Plastic, 240ℓ bin, 85l bin, Skip) by waste management services
Number of services rendered by waste management services
Number of EMM marked 240ℓ bins where applicable
Number of non-EMM marked 240ℓ bins where applicable
Number of 240ℓ bins per consumer unit
Zoning and use of property
Tariff category for waste management services
Amount billed for waste management services
Applicable amount supposed to be billed
Township promulgation status.
The audit will benefit both residents and business as well as the City by providing accurate and updated owner billing information, providing close to 250 job opportunities for the duration of the audience and will help the City improve waste management services rendered.
In addition, it will provide the City with information for future studies and give an overview of the quality of waste management services provided to communities.
Field workers who will go door-to-door can be identified through their attire which is branded with the City of Ekurhuleni logo and the project name - Siyahlanganisa'. The field workers' name tags will also include their name, supervisor's name and number as well as the customer care centre's contact details (0860 543 000).
Capturing of data in the field is done using smart forms on mobile devices. The applications used to create the forms and capture the data are called Device Magic. Data collected is verified through spatial, photographic and desktop verification.
