Siyaqhuba us a programme introduced by the City’s Executive Mayor, Cllr Mzwandile Masina during his first 100 days in office. The word ‘siyaqhuba’ is derived from an Nguni word that means ‘We are moving forward’.
This programme ensures that service delivery issues are rapidly responded to an, more importantly, the people of the City are in closer proximity to public representatives.
This campaign start in January 2017 with Mayor Masina saying that the time for planning is over and that the City should now turn its focus on better services for residents. Siyaqhuba sees the mayor and his Mayoral Committee, City Manager and a team of senior officials visit different wards to assess and address service delivery challenges on the spot. The visits are also used to engage with communities on the quality of service delivery rendered and provide an effective system that synchronises rapid response and service delivery within a city.
