The Vosloorus Mega Housing Project is nearing completion in Extension 9 and was visited this week by the Member of Mayoral Committee for Human Settlements, Cllr Mabekenyane Thamahane.
On completion, the project will yield 584 RDP and 70 social housing units for the people from the areas of Vosloorus, Katlehong and Thokoza, collectively known as Kathorus. The housing units consist of eight blocks of four-storey walk-up structures; each unit has two bedrooms. f
“This is a huge project. We have inspected the workmanship and are delighted that the project will prioritise beneficiaries living with disabilities as well 1996 RDP applicants.
“I am happy to say 95% of Phase one of this project is complete and the other phases are expected to be completed by June 2022,” said Cllr Thamahane.
The project is located at the corner of Barry Marais Road and Sam Sekoati Avenue overlooking the N3 to Durban. This development area is approximately 20km south of Germiston and the Boksburg Central Business District.
The construction of the project is split into three phases:
● Phase 1 consists of 188 units.
● Phase 2 consists of 132 units.
● Phase 3 consists of 264 units.
