About Office of the Executive Mayor

Not only a resident of Ekurhuleni, first citizen of Cllr Mzwandile Masina was also born and raised in the City.

Prior to taking up the reins of executive mayor in 2016, Mayor Masina was Deputy Minister of Trade and Industry. He is also the Regional Chairperson of the ANC in Ekurhuleni and served previously as convener of the ANC Youth League. 

He has held various positions, including CEO of the Gauteng Film Commission, Deputy Director-General at the Gauteng Department of Sport, Arts, Culture and Recreation, Chief Director in the Ministry of Mineral Resources, Director at the DTI, Director at the City of Ekurhuleni and General Manager at Uthingo. 

Mayor Masina studied at various institutions, including the University of the Witwatersrand School of Governance in Public and Development Management and the University of Pretoria, where he graduated with a Master’s Degree, specialising in entrepreneurship.

Chief of Staff

This position goes to Reckson Hasani, who is no stranger to local government, having previously served as a councillor. After the 2016 elections, he took up the position of Chief of Staff.
