UMSIZI NOPENDE’S JOURNEY OF CREATIVE EMPOWERMENT

uMsizi noPende Visual Art Project Top 20 Finalist Announced

The uMsizi noPende Visual Art Project features artists and photographers who interpreted the theme “Looking into the Past, Present and Future”. A total of 267 online entries were received and the 20 selected finalists make up the exhibition that will run at the Springs Art Gallery – and they will also be available for purchase.

This Visual Art Project is a brainchild of the Isthuli-Sasengweni Arts and Craft Organisation and is in its third year running, funded by the National Lotteries Commission. The development programme is hosted in partnership with the City of Ekurhuleni’s Visual Art and Galleries Section within the Sport Recreation Arts and Culture Department, as well as expressive support from Gert Sibande Municipality.

The Public Voters Choice Campaign closes on 12 April 2024 and votes can only be cast via SMS. Click on the link (www.isthuliarts.org.za) and you can see all the 20 finalists’ artworks. Each artist has a special number that is used for casting a vote for the Public Voters’ Choice Prize.

Winners of the 2024 uMsizi noPende Visual Art Project will be announced on 13 April at the exhibition opening at the Springs Art Gallery at 12pm. But before that happens, the public can also vote for the Public Choice Award winner, and voting has already opened. The following prizes will be announced:

– Gold Prize (R20 000.00),

– Silver Prize (R12 000.00),

– Bonze Prize (R8 000.00), and

– The Public Voters’ Choice Prize (R10 000.00).
