Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO)

Purpose

To provide strategic guidance to the full functioning of the municipality, ensuring a smart developing city.

The EPMO falls within the Office of City Manager, and its core mandate is to enable important projects of the City’s growth and development strategy (GDS 2055) by ensuring the following:

Strategic resource planning, standardising processes, methodologies and project management practices;

Tracking and reporting on projects;

Improving balance between capital expenditure and project performance;

Improving demand forecasting for all projects in all departments;

Increasing efficiency in project delivery.

Behind the wheel of the EMPO office is Andile Mahlalutye, who brings with him in-depth experience and knowledge of government. Andile has a BSc in quantity surveying from the University of Cape Town, Masters in Business Leadership from Unisa, Diploma in Company Direction from Graduate Institute of Management and Technology, Programme Certificate on Development and Management of NGOs from Galilee College of Israel, Masters in Financial Management from University of London, Certificate on Economic Regulation from London School of Economics and on Benchmarking Infrastructure Operations form the University of Florida.

He joined the City of Ekurhuleni in 2013, filling the role of Acting CFO, Acting Head of Human Settlements and is in his second term as head of EMPO.
