Ekurhuleni's number one citizen, the Executive Mayor Cllr Mzwandile Masina, on Friday, 02 May, officially handed over the R17.4 million Early Childhood Development Centre (ECD) to the community of Tsakane.

An Early Childhood Development Centre provides facilities suitable for children's training, care and support appropriate for their age and stage of development.

The state-of-art facility is armed with well-qualified ECD practitioners. Further, the ECD boast of a fully-fledged play area, categorised classrooms, and nursery rooms, sick room and an art area. The little ones will also enjoy a nutritious balanced diet prepared from the state-of-the-art kitchen.

The community of Tsakane lauded the facility, and quickly requested application forms for registration for their little ones.

"We are pleased to have such an amazing facility in our township for the development of our children, now there will be no need for us to take our kids to crèches in the suburbs. It's affordable, safe and provides good quality education for the development of our kids," said Nomasonto Gwebu who was there to witness the official opening of the centre.

Enrolment to the Tsakane ECD centre is currently open with crèche fees ranging from R350- 450 depending on the age of the child.

Parents can collect application forms at the centre and submit them with a birth certificate and the child's clinic card for registration.
