LANGAVILLE LIBRARY CLOSED
The City of Ekurhuleni regrettably informs members of the public about the closure of the Langaville Library.
The facility has been shut down following the collapse of the ceiling and damage to the roof due to recent heavy rains. The decision to close the library was taken after it was discovered that the library had become unsafe to patrons and staff alike.
“We have already received a quote of R3.9m to fix all the structural damage to the library. We have already lodged a claim with our insurance and upon approval, work will get underway,” explains city spokesman Zweli Dlamini.
“We are aware that there are patrons who still have our books at their disposal and do not know what to do with them in the absence of the library. The good news is that these can be dropped off at any of our libraries around the city and we do encourage members of the public to drop them off.”
The city further encourages patrons of the Langaville Library, especially learners, to consider utilising neighbouring libraries. “We have entered the most critical time of the academic year and therefore our libraries will come in handy to prepare our learners for the final examination,” says Dlamini.
Alternative libraries within the vicinity of Langaville are:

Tsakane Library | E | Cnr Xhosa & Gubhela Street, Tsakane | 011 999 8014 |
The City apologises for the current situation in Langaville and undertakes to work speedily to ensure that the facility is up and running as soon as possible.
