Q:        Will I be able to get medical attention if needed?

A:         Yes, all clinics remain operational, working with Gauteng Provincial Health Department. Please find link to a list of local clinics –

Q:        Which healthcare site provide quarantine of COVID-19 cases?

A:         -Nokuthela Ngwenya Community Health Centre,

-Old Natalspruit Hospital, and

-Old Thokoza Fire Station

 

Q:        Are early childhood development centres open?

A:         No

 

Q:        What happens if there is a power or water and sanitation outage?

A:         Any outages must be reported to the call centre, and a reference number received. Essential services from the Energy and Water and Sanitation departments will be sent to investigate and get power up and running as soon as possible.

Q:        Are customer care centres open?

A:         Yes, operating with skeleton staff. You will be able to pay and query your account as well as buy prepaid units. The centres are open 08h30 – 15h30 except on Wednesdays when they operate from 09h00 – 15h30. Please ensure you adhere to the social distancing and other precautions when visiting the centre.

Q:        Where can I pay my municipal account?

A:         -Any customer care centre

            -Any of the following retail shops – Shoprite, Checkers, Pick ’n Pay, Makro, Spar, banks

Q:        Where do I send proof of payment to avoid credit control measures?

Q:        Will refuse be collected?

A:         Yes, as per the existing schedule. If your refuse is not collected, please report to the call centre.

 

Q:        Will dumping sites be open?

A:         No.

 

Q:        What if I find a snake on my property?

A:         Snake catchers are on standby to assist to call outs. For assistance call:

Q:        Are cemeteries open?

A:         No. But funerals will be allowed and must adhere to the strict regulations in place during COVID-19 lockdown – see link to the regulations and note the forms that need to be completed: https://www.gov.za/documents/disaster-management-act-regulations-address-prevent-and-combat-spread-coronavirus-covid-19

Q:        Are recreational facilities open?

A:         No. All sport, recreation, arts and culture facilities are closed and refunds for booked venues will be processed by the Finance office. This includes swimming pool, halls, libraries, parks and the like.

 

Q:        What about disaster and emergency services – will they still operate?

A:         Yes, these are essential services. Fire and ambulance personnel, call centre agents, and all support and essential staff are working during this period.

Q:        Will the Metro Police also be on duty?

A:         Yes, our EMPD personnel, as well as security services, will be operational and on the ground during this time.

Q:        Can I renew my car or driver’s licence?

A:         No. All licensing offices are closed.    

Q:        As a business will I still have to pay rent to CoE during this time?

A:         The City has waived rental payments for those tenants using council property whose entities do not fall under essential services. The Cities deems it unfair to collect rent as these businesses will not yield any income for the duration of the lockdown.
