It has come to the attention of the City of Ekurhuleni that a hoax message is making rounds informing job seekers that the position they have applied for has become available, and that the applicant meets the criteria. This is a scam!

The same text message has been received from people who have not applied for a position within the municipality. The City urges you NOT to reply to the SMS.

The City's recruitment system sends e-mail correspondence to candidates' using the email address provided when they registered on the online system. This email notifies of the status of the application and, in some instances, correspondence is via a telephone call.

Also note that applications for jobs in the City do not require any payment to be made. If you are asked to make a payment in relation to the City's recruitment, please report it to the CoE's Anti-Fraud Hotline on 0800 102 201, or email
