MMC TURNS SOD ON R600 MILLION HOUSING PROJECT
Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Human Settlements Cllr Lesiba Mpya declared the ground ready for the massive construction of the 1 352 houses during a sod-turning ceremony on Sunday, 17 June. This development will benefit the likes of residents from Little Maseru and Vlakplaas informal settlements who will benefit from the RDP and social houses in Vosloorus Extension 9.
Two appointed contractors, Murray and Dickson (M&D) Construction and NJR Projects, have taken site to work on the approximately 11 hectares of land owned by the City. The new settlement will consist of eight different high-rise type blocks with 18 blocks of RDP units and eight social units.
Each RDP block will have four-storey walk-ups with 582 two-bedroom units and 296 parking bays.
Furthermore, 770 social housing units will comprise of 10-storey high-rise buildings made up of 320 bachelor and 450 two bedroomed units and 264 parking bays.
