YOUTH TO ACQUIRE SKILLS ON DOCUMENTING ORAL HISTORY

Oral-History

The ability to tell and document historical tales is an acquired skill, as such young people from across the city will this Friday, 15 June, get an opportunity to be trained to master the art of documenting oral history.

Storytellers, poets, historians and members of the community are expected to converge at Faranani Multi-Purpose Centre in Tsakane to learn the best practices on preserving the history and heritage of their communities through documenting their stories.

The City of Ekurhuleni together with the Old Location Brakpan Historical Organization will host the oral history workshop in conjunction with the University of Witwatersrand.

The theme of the Oral History workshop is: "The South African War 1899-1902. The Black Concentration Camps Revisited: BRAKPAN".
