
Implementation Of The Aerotropolis Master Plan
In 2017, the Ekurhuleni Council approved the 30-year Aerotropolis Master Plan for implementation to drive sustainable socio-economic development and an economic infrastructure development programme, in partnership with other spheres of government, state-owned companies, private business, and social partners.
The plan is premised on building an airport city with economically resilient regions segmented into among others the logistics corridors, research and development regions, manufacturing regions and agricultural regions.
The City of Ekurhuleni, jointly with its stakeholders, is progressing well in the implementing Aerotropolis Master Plan. Key developments developments to date include the Riverfields Development Project, Plumbago Industrial Park Development Project, Green Reef Mega Projects, OR Tambo Special Development Zone, Denel Kempton Park Campus, Ekurhuleni Integrated Rapid Public Transport Network (IRPTN), Tambo Springs Inland Port, and the Gibela Rail Manufacturing Plant.
Other investments currently underway in the SUDs include the ACSA expansion, developments along the R21 Corridor, and investments in the OR Tambo International Airport Industrial Development Zone.
