Biography
Speaker of Council Cllr. Nthabiseng Tshivhenga is Ekurhuleni born and bred and strives to tighten the role of oversight and accountability on the Executive and council members. She also aims to drive service delivery to the residents of the City of Ekurhuleni.
Cllr. Tshivhenga is no stranger to local government, having worked for the municipality as a researcher for the Municipal Public Accounts Committee (MPAC) and as a service delivery monitoring and evaluation practitioner. In August 2016, she was elected as a PR councillor serving on the committees for Finance, MPAC, Water, Sanitation and Energy, Economic Development, City Planning, Public Participation and Petitions, Programming and Rules.
The Speaker holds a Bachelor of Law (LLB) degree from the University of South Africa (Unisa), and a National Diploma from the University of Johannesburg in Information Technology, where she majored in Business Analysis and Information Systems. She also has a certificate in Leadership in Municipal Governance from the University of Witwatersrand School of Governance and various other certificates, including Project Management in Public Administration from Unisa.
Mother of three girls and a boy, and a big sister to two younger brothers, Cllr. Tshivhenga was born in Thembisa and attended Mashemong Primary School until Grade Two. Her family moved to Daveyton, Etwatwa, where she finished her primary school education at Melodi Primary School. She completed her schooling career at St Francis College in Benoni.
