About Roads and Transport Management Department

The two divisions that make up this department are:

  • Roads and Stormwater
  • Transport and Fleet Management

The purpose of Roads and Stormwater:

Roads and Stormwater is responsible for the planning and reviewing of stormwater and roads infrastructure strategies, and for the development and maintenance of roads and stormwater infrastructure.

It is responsible for:

  • Providing roads and storm water services.
  • Constructing and maintaining roads and storm water infrastructure.

The purpose of Transport and Fleet Management is:

  • To provide high quality, integrated, and well-maintained transport infrastructure and integrated public transport systems, ensuring a high degree of mobility and choices to commuters;
  • To provide a centralized fleet management function that will give service across City thereby manage cost, monitor utilization and overall risk regarding its fleet; and
  • Ensure an improved provision of an efficient public transport system.

Office of the HoD:

Lehlohonolo Gomo is the Head of the Roads and Transport Management Department in the City of Ekurhuleni, responsible for overseeing the strategic planning, development, and maintenance of the city’s transport infrastructure. Gomo leads strategic efforts to develop, maintain, and upgrade road networks and stormwater infrastructure and improve service delivery for all residents. Under Gomo’s leadership, the department prioritizes innovation, integrated transport networks, and community-centred development to ensure efficient and accessible mobility across the municipality.
