Mayor Sivuyile Ngodwana is a dedicated public servant who has committed himself to the pursuit of progress and positive change. His political journey began in 2013 when he joined the African Independent Congress. Following the elections in 2014, he demonstrated exceptional leadership as the National Coordinator. Between 2016 and 2021, Mayor Ngodwana served as a Proportional Representation Councillor for the City of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality, where he made a significant impact as the Chairperson of the Oversight Committee on Sport, Recreation, Arts, and Culture. Growing up in the Eastern Cape, he was an active community member and volunteer, embodying the spirit of hope and unity.

Educational Background:
Cllr Ngodwana’s academic journey has been driven by a passion for learning and personal growth. He completed his high school education at Mvenyane High School in the Eastern Cape in 1997. In 2003, he earned a Diploma in Marketing from Natal Technical College. He later added a Certificate in Financial Management from Moonstone College in 2008 to his credentials. Motivated by a commitment to good governance, Mayor Ngodwana sought to enhance his leadership skills by completing the Leadership in Municipal Governance course at the prestigious Wits School of Governance in 2019.
Professional Experience:
Before his full-time political career, Mayor Ngodwana honed his skills in the financial sector, a testament to his diverse expertise and adaptability. From 2005 to 2014, he worked as a financial advisor for three leading financial institutions in South Africa. This professional experience has equipped Mayor Ngodwana with the necessary financial acumen to lead good governance and prudent financial management in the City of Ekurhuleni.
