
About Information Communication & Technology (ICT)
The Information and Communication Technology (ICT) department has a responsibility to ensure that ICT goals are aligned to and support the City’s mission, and strategic objectives of becoming a Smart, Creative and Developmental City and that maximum business value is realized from ICT related investment services and assets. ICT is one of the key enabling departments within the City. It uses and leverage the implementation of technology to enable the city to deliver services effectively and efficiently.
The main purpose for the ICT department within the City is to establish Operational Excellence through the implementation of technology and to achieve this objective, ICT needs to ensure that any application of technology within the City fully supports and is tightly aligned to the strategic objectives of the City. ICT assists in changing how the municipality operates and provides services to the citizens through the introduction of enabling technology.
It’s a given that the City of Ekurhuleni is also well on its way to being a digital city; made possible by a dynamic ICT Department that strives to provide a stable information technology infrastructure and ensure optimal functioning of internal systems.
Of course, making sure that the City is mSCOA compliant is an added factor that this department plays a major role in, something that it does full steam ahead.
Did you know that ICT refers to technologies that provide access to information through telecommunications? It is similar to Information Technology (IT) but focuses primarily on communication technologies. This includes the Internet, wireless networks, cell phones, and other communication mediums.
Divisions

Office of the Chief Information Officer
Referred to as the Chief Information Officer (CIO), Moloko Monyepao (Mr) has over 20 years’ experience within Information and Communication Technology, acquired in diverse industries which includes private sector, state-owned entities and public sector, where he held various strategic roles which includes performing an advisory role to government chief information officers on Disaster Recovery Plans, IT Security and IT Governance. His current responsibility within ICT is to facilitate the conceptualisation, planning and bringing to reality the City’s vision of becoming a smart and creative city, by implementing and enabling innovative technologies that ensures the mandate of the City is achieved. This includes leveraging on existing projects to create an enabling environment for citizens to thrive socially and economically.

Division: ICT Governance and Compliance and Support Services
Musa Malungani (Mr), Divisional Head for ICT Governance and Compliance and Supports Services brings over a decade of expertise in diverse sectors, including state-owned entities, academic institutions, public and private sectors where he held different advisory and strategic roles. In his current role, he oversees the strategic alignment of information and communication technology (ICT) with on COE’s strategic objectives, manages IT related risks, ensures compliance with relevant regulations, and establishes governance frameworks for effective decision-making. He plays a crucial role in ensuring robust governance and efficient utilization of technology resources, safeguarding data integrity, fostering a secure ICT environment, and enabling the ICT Department to navigate complexities while adhering to industry standards.

Division: Applications Development and Systems Support
Matlhodi Senyatsi (Ms.), Divisional Head for Applications Development and Support has over two decades of experience in Information and Communication Technology within the public sector, ranging from systems design, development, support and project management. In her current role she oversees the development, testing, continuous support and maintenance of all systems within the city.

Division: ICT Operations
Mahlatse Matshani (Mr.), is the Divisional Head responsible for ICT Operations within the City.
The primary purpose of ICT Operations division is to provide expert level technical support relating to networks & tele-communications, servers & systems infrastructure, field support services and service desk within the City effectively and efficiently.
