CITY IMPLEMENTS LOAD REDUCTION TO PARTS OF KEMPTON PARK

The City has been forced to implement load reduction to parts of Kempton Park following acts of vandalism and theft of the electrical infrastructure which occurred on Thursday afternoon.

The load reduction schedule is implemented on a four-hour rotational basis and this started yesterday and will go on until the power grid stabilises. The estimated completion of the work being undertaken is the 8th of August 2023.

“These acts and theft and vandalism are taking us back as a city. They are common during load shedding,” says metro spokesman Zweli Dlamini. “What makes the situation more sad is that our people are robbed of such an essential service during extremely cold winter days.”

The load rotation is affecting the following areas:

  • Kempton Park West;
  • Kempton Park Ext 1-5;
  • Birch Acres Ext 1 -24;
  • Birchleigh;
  • Terenure;
  • Van Reebieck Park;
  • Kempton Park Central;
  • Rhodesfield;
  • Sky Park;
  • In2 Food;
  • Edleen;
  • Norkem Park;
  • Parts of Birchleigh;
  • Glen Marais;
  • Glen Eagle;
  • Aston Manor;
  • Nimrod Park;
  • Allen Grove;
  • Bonaero Park; and
  • Parts of Pomona.

All efforts are being made to restore power sooner. Residents are requested to report all suspected suspicious activities on municipal infrastructure by calling the call centre at 0860 54 3000.
