CITY OF EKURHULENI EXECUTIVES TOUR THE AEROTROPOLIS CITY REGION IN KEMPTON PARK 

Ekurhuleni Executive Mayor Cllr Sivuyile Ngodwana together with MMCs for City Planning and Economic Development MMC Nomadlozi Nkosi and Corporate Services MMC Nkosindiphile Xhakaza spent the whole of Friday touring the Aerotropolis City region located near O.R Tambo International Airport.

The purpose of the visit was to assess the progress of infrastructure projects undertaken towards the realization of the Aerotropolis City Region, which are expected to have a significant impact on the local economy.

The municipal leadership were impressed with the progress made so far and the level of investment that the businesses had put into the projects.

The Aerotropolis City Region will house clusters of industry-related enterprises including local SMMEs as well as multinational companies which will gain a competitive advantage by utilising the synergistic capabilities of the location.

During the site visit, Mayor Ngodwana and the entourage met with the CEO of Teraco Data Environments, Jan Hnizho to hear their concerns in an effort to strengthen the public-private partnerships and attract more investments in Ekurhuleni.

Cllr Ngodwana emphasised the importance of collaboration between the businesses and the municipality in achieving the common goal of sustainable economic development.

“Collaboration between the municipality and the private sector is critical in achieving our development goals. We are committed to creating an environment that is conducive for business growth and development, and we will continue to work closely with the private sector to achieve this.” said the first citizen.

The municipal leadership also expressed their gratitude to the businesses for their confidence to invest in the area, and their contribution to the local economy.

The visit was concluded on a positive note, with the Mayor and the municipal leaders emphasising their commitment to working with the private sector to achieve sustainable economic growth in the region.
