VISIT A CUSTOMER CARE CENTRE NEAR YOU TO APPLY FOR INDIGENT STATUS

The City of Ekurhuleni invites indigent residents to apply for registration on the indigent database for free basic services. Applications can be made at the City’s Customer Care Centres (CCC).

The verification process for indigent assistance requires the following documents:

Pensioners:

• ID copy of the applicant;
• ID copy of spouse, if applicable;
• ID/birth certificate copies of dependents who reside on the property, if there are any;
• Latest municipal account statement;
• SASSA pension statement of the applicant and their spouse, if applicable; and
• Affidavits from all unemployed household residents over the age of 18 years, or proof of registration if they are still full-time students.

Unemployed persons:

• ID of the applicant;
• ID copy of spouse, if applicable;
• ID/birth certificate copies of dependents who reside on the property, if applicable;
• Latest municipal account statement; and
• Affidavits from all unemployed household residents over the age of 18 years, or proof of registration if they are still full-time students.

Employed persons:

• ID of the applicant;
• ID copy of spouse if, applicable;
• ID/birth certificate copies of dependents who reside on the property, if applicable;
• Latest municipal account statement;
• Latest pay slip or formal letter from employer;
• Three (3) month bank statements; and
• Affidavits from all unemployed household residents over the age of 18 years, or proof of registration if they are still full-time students.

Qualifying applicants can apply physically at a customer care centre:
