ESTABLISHMENT OF THE EKURHULENI MUNICIPAL PLANNING TRIBUNAL (EMPT)
In terms of Section 54 of the Spatial Planning and Land Use Management Act, 2013 (Act 16 of 2013) (hereinafter referred to as the “Act”), read together with Section 35 of the Act, as well as Regulations 2 and 3 of the Regulations to the Act, notice is hereby given that the Council of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality on 26 January 2017 appointed certain persons to serve as members of the Ekurhuleni Municipal Planning Tribunal (EMPT).
In terms of Section 37(1) of the Act, it is further determined that the term of office of the members of the EMPT is five (5) years from the date of their appointment, which period may be extended by the Municipality for an additional five (5) years.
In terms of Section 37(4), read together with Sections 40(1) and (4) of the Act, notice is further given that the EMPT shall consider and decide on matters and applications lawfully referred to, or submitted to it, in terms of any relevant planning legislation, as may be determined by the Municipality.
