INVITATION TO ATTEND PUBLIC MEETINGS – GREENING OF EXISTING EMM BY-LAWS AND DEVELOP NEW ENVIRONMENTAL BY-LAWS / AMEND THE EXISTING BY-LAWS

Royal HaskoningDHV has been appointed by the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality (EMM) to provide consulting services for the “Greening of existing EMM By-Laws and develop a set of new Environmental By-Laws or amend existing By-Laws accordingly” (Ref. No: PS-ERM 81/2013).

The aim of this project is to align the by-laws in Ekurhuleni with the environmental right outlined in the Constitution, and develop new environmental by-laws where gaps were identified.

During the course of the project, external stakeholders were notified and invited to attend public meetings in June 2014 whereby the project was introduced and existing EMM by-laws discussed and interrogated. The EMM by-laws have subsequently been amended and revised in line with Environmental legislation, and the proposed amendments will be presented to the general public within the Ekurhuleni regions.
The electronic copy of the draft proposed amended EMM by-laws is available for review and comments on the websites listed below. You are invited to submit comments and provide inputs by Friday, 30 April 2015:

Stakeholders are hereby invited to attend a final round of public participation meetings for the project. The aim of these public meetings is to communicate the proposed amendments made to the existing by-laws and to obtain further comments. Kindly refer to the schedule of meetings below.
