CITY OF EKURHULENI
Notice In Terms Of Section 33 of the Local Government Municipal Finance Management Act, No 56 of 2003: Ekurhuleni Energy Generation Program through a Power Purchase Agreement for a Period of at Least 20 Years
NOTICE IS HERBY GIVEN in terms of Section 33 of the Local Government Municipal Finance Management Act No 56 of 2003 that the City of Ekurhuleni (Municipality) intends entering into a contract relating to R-EE 01/2017: Request for proposal: Ekurhuleni Energy Generating program through a power purchase agreement for a period of at least 20 year.
The contract does not carry any financial cost to council; however, the City will introduce more than 10% of sourced energy from renewable and cleaner energy estimated at 700 MW.
NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN in accordance with Section 21A and Section 21 of Local Government Municipal Systems Act, 32 of 2000 that –
- Copies of provisional appointment letters, draft PPAs, and information statement summarizing the municipaity’s obligation in terms of the RFP are available for inspection at the locations listed hereunder and will also be accessible on ekurhuleni.gov.za (official website of the municipality).
- For a period of thirty (30) days from the date of publication hereof, the provisional appointment letters, draft PPAs, and information statement, may be obtained at the municipality from Mr April Dlamini and Ms Jabulile Kgomo, Tel 011 99 6890/2544, Department of Energy, Section: Alternative and Renewable, at the address below.
- The local community and other interested persons/parties are invited to submit comments or representations to the municipality in respect of the proposed draft request. Such comments or representation must be received by no later than 16 September 2019 via electronic mail to either April.Dlamini@ekurhuleni.gov.za or Jabulile.Kgomo@ekurhuleni.gov.za
