Ekurhuleni Hosts Awards for Matric Learners, Teachers and Bursary Scheme Graduates
The City of Ekurhuleni will host the 2021 Godfrey Pitje Academic Excellence Awards Ceremony on Wednesday, 10 March, at Germiston Civic Centre, Banquet Hall.
The awards are held to award the best performing learners and the City’s bursary scheme graduates. About 45 learners will be awarded for their 2020 matric performance.
The top six best performing learners will receive the Executive Mayor’s GM Pitje honorary awards which will entail a full bursary and laptop prizes. The top best performing teachers in subject categories will also be honoured. Graduates who are part of the City’s bursary scheme will also be honoured for completion of their studies through the City’s bursary scheme.
The GM Pitje Academic Excellence Awards Ceremony has the following categories:
- Top 15 best performing learners in the matric class of 2020
- Top 15 best performing learners from priority school areas
- Best performing learners in subjects (Maths, Science, Economics, Accounting, Life Sciences, Geography, History, Business Studies, Information Technology and English)
- Top 10 best performing high schools
- Top 10 best performing high schools from priority school areas
- Most improved GDE District
- The Executive Mayor honorary award
- Best performing teachers in subjects (Maths, Science, Economics, Accounting, Life Sciences, History, Geography, Business Studies, Information Technology and English)
- Top 3 best performing matric overall
