Entries for East Fashion Week Open for Visual Artists and Crafters

The City of Ekurhuleni in partnership with Eastfashionweek 360 is hosting the third edition of the annual Eastfashionweek to be held between 3 and 5 December 2020 at the Springs Art Gallery.

Visual artists as well as the crafters within the City are also invited to collaborate with Eastfashionweek for a 360 multimedia fashion entries to be exhibited between 5 December 2020 and 5 January 2021.

Eastfashionweek is an annual programme that provides access to market for local fashion designer brands. This year’s programme is divided into five main parts which are:

  • Promotion of designers through online presence
  • Development through mentorship
  • Access to market through stakeholder partnership
  • Awareness though #SUPPORTLOCAL
  • Direct sales platform through #SUPPORTLOCAL store

“We are proud as the City to provide the platform for up and coming visual artists and crafters to market their work through our partnership with Eastfashionweek,’’ said Thabo Sekoaila from the City’s Visual Arts Division.

Artists are requested to bring their current work-in-progress artworks to be documented on the process of their creative activity, and the content of their creative process will be recorded in standard 1080HD and VR for the multimedia installation. Artists are also encouraged to bring finished works for the consideration of Boxshop, which is an Eastfashionweek partner for buyers.

Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic participants should note that audience safety is paramount, and interactive works need to follow COVID-19 safety protocols such as social distancing.
