THE SPEAKER OF COUNCIL OFFICIATES SWEARING IN OF IFP COUNCILLOR

On Thursday, 09 October 2025, the Speaker of Council in the City of Ekurhuleni, Cllr. Nthabiseng Tshivhenga, officiated the swearing in of a new IFP Councillor.

Councillor Mduduzi Mbhense took the oath of office before the Speaker in accordance with Rule 11 (1), (2) and (3) of the City of Ekurhuleni Standing Orders By-Law.

These rules make provision for Councillors to swear or affirm their faithfulness and obedience to the Republic, the Constitution and Council before the magistrate in a Council meeting, or at any time by arrangement before the Speaker in the Speaker’s Office.

Mbhense fills the vacancy left by Alco Kufakwezwe Ngobese who has since become a member of the National Assembly.

Cllr Tshivhenga welcomed the new Councillor who can now participate in the official business of Council and wished him well in serving the people of Ekurhuleni with integrity and upholding their sworn oath.
