CUSTOMERS ENCOURAGED TO USE ELECTRICITY SPARINGLY AMIDST LOADSHEDDING
Electricity power supply remains constrained with constant risk of loadshedding until Thursday, 14 October 2021, as communicated by Eskom earlier in the week.
Loadshedding in the City is implemented as per the schedule provided by Eskom. Customers can follow the schedule available on the City’s website www.ekurhuleni.gov.za.
For ease of understanding, and to follow the tabulated loadshedding schedule, customers need to combine the day of the month with the start and end times of the set stage to determine if their area will be loadshed and the duration thereof.
If, for an example, Eskom announces stage 1 of loadshedding, it means only one shaded block of areas will be affected. If stage 2 of loadshedding is announced, areas highlighted in stage 1 and stage 2 will apply.
To help mitigate the impact of the strain on the power grid, customers are advised to apply the following energy saving tips.
- Turn off unnecessary lights
- Use natural light
- Take shorter showers
- Turn water off when shaving, washing hands or brushing hands
- Unplug unused electronics
- Switch off outside lights during the day
Residents are urged to continuously use electricity sparingly to help reduce the risk of loadshedding.
