REGULATING OF ILLEGAL ADVERTISING SIGNS ON COUNCIL BUILDINGS AND NEW APPLICATIONS FOR BILLBOARD APPLICATIONS MADE EASIER

The City of Ekurhuleni has appointed SAH Development Managers (Pty) Ltd to manage, mitigate and regulate illegal advertisements on Council-owned property or within road reserves under its jurisdiction.

This company will work with the Outdoor Advertising Section from the departments of City Planning and Real Estate.

Owners of illegal outdoors advertising signs are advised that the use of SAH Development Managers is not compulsory, meaning that they can still visit the City Planning Department or Real Estate Department for assistance.

The City has identified existing illegal advertising signs on Council-owned property, and these will be handed over to SAH. The company will contact owners of the advertising signs in an attempt to regularise such sign(s) by obtaining both a formal technical approval for compliance in terms of the City of Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality’s Billboard and the Display of Advertisements Bylaw (2017), and the conclusion of a formal lease agreement with the City of Ekurhuleni in respect of the advertising sign(s).
