SIMMER AND JACK LANDFILL SITE TEMPORARILY CLOSED DUE TO FIRE

A fire broke out at Simmer and Jack landfill site yesterday, 26 October which has led to the temporary closure of the site. All necessary resources have been deployed to extinguish the fire. However, due to the nature of the fire, which is underneath the waste, it is not feasible to extinguish it using water. Thus, the period it takes to extinguish the fire might be prolonged.

We urge customers to use the Platkop landfill site in the meantime.

The city will update residents through its digital platforms.
