REMINDER!! CITY HOSTS SUPPLIER DEVELOPMENT SESSIONS FOR NEW PREFERENTIAL PROCUREMENT REGULATIONS

The City of Ekurhuleni invites local businesses to a training session on the new Preferential Procurement Regulation (PPR) of 2022 which became effective on 16 January 2023.

The most notable change to the regulation is the replacement of the broad-based black economic empowerment (BBBEE) status level contributor with specific goals, and as a result, points will from now on be allocated based on the specific transformative goals listed in the tender document.

This latest development has necessitated the City to update its Supply Chain Management (SCM) policy and also introduce a framework for Specific Goals. These goals are meant to increase the participation of the previously marginalised in the local economy through the City’s procurement process without directly excluding any citizen of the country.

The upcoming training will ensure all targeted stakeholders are aligned with the changes to avoid possible rejection during the procurement process.

The supplier development training sessions will be held as follows:

  • Germiston

Date:               14 March 2023

Time:               09h00

Venue:            Clinic Auditorium Civic Centre

  • Kempton Park

Date:               15 March 2023

  • Benoni

All people who are affected by this change are encouraged to attend the sessions to get properly empowered with the relevant information which will assist them in doing business with the City in the future.
