A Dream to Operate an ECD Comes Through For Fihla

With over 10 years of operating a crèche from her garage, Elizah Fihla’s dream of operating a fully-fledged Early Childhood Development (ECD) Centre became reality when she was awarded the tender to operate the Vosloorus ECD centre.

“Words can’t express how grateful I am to the City of Ekurhuleni. Waking up in the morning to serve my community in a beautiful space like the Vosloorus ECD centre is more than what I’ve ever dreamt of,” said Fihla.

Fihla, who is the school principal, has also been able to give back to her community by employing members from the community to work at the facility – from the security guard at the gate to the cooks who prepare meals for the little ones.

The Vosloorus ECD is one of the 10 state-of-the-art childhood development centres the City has built to ensure its future leaders receive a solid foundation in their school career.

The facilities were handed over with fully furnished kitchen appliances, learning material as well as furniture for the little bundles of joy.

The Vosloorus ECD centre started operating in January 2020 and is open for applications for the 2021 academic year.  Application forms can be collected from the facility during week days at 1910 Roets Drive, Extension 7 in Vosloorus between 09h00 and 15h00.
