
EKURHULENI MARKS START OF 16 DAYS OF ACTIVISM FOR NO VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN AND CHILDREN WITH CANDLELIGHT CEREMON
The City of Ekurhuleni women employees participated in a candlelight ceremony to mark the start of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children campaign on Tuesday, 25 November, at the OR Tambo Government Precinct Administration building in Germiston.
The ceremony was officiated by the Executive Mayor Alderman Nkosindiphile Xhakaza, alongside the MMC for Developmental Planning and Real Estate Alderman Nomadlozi Nkosi.
The 16 Days of Activism for No Violence Against Women and Children Campaign takes place between 25 November and 10 December 2025 under the theme: “Letsema: Men, Women, Boys and Girls working together to end Gender-Based Violence and Femicide (GBVF)”.
The City of Ekurhuleni urges residents to unite and never turn a blind eye to violence against women and children. Assistance is available at the social services offices in the city’s customer care centres, Stop Gender Violence Helpline at 0800 150 150 or the Gender-Based Violence Command Centre at 0800 428 428.
