Gardening Equipment to be Donated to Special Educational Needs School

The City in collaboration with the paper and plastic packaging manufacturing and recycling company, MPACT, will donate 10 composters, garden hand tools, two fruit trees and seedlings to Phelang School for Learners with Special Educational Needs in KwaThema on Wednesday, 14 October.

Phelang School is known for its well-kept food garden, which is managed by the learners with the help of educators. The donation from the City and MPACT is set to encourage the already existing culture of agriculture by generating their own compost using the donated composters to fertilise their soil.

Agricultural work and other related physical activities are therapeutic and stimulate the mind, which contributes to the learning process for learners with special educational needs.
