Mandela Day 2020

This year, more than ever, the heart of Mandela Day – Take Action, Inspire Change – Make Every Day a Mandela Day – has never more true.

Covid-19 has impacted communities the world over and the economy hard hit resulting new social as well as economic challenges. The City of Ekurhuleni included.

With Mandela Day on Saturday, 18 July, you can make a difference in lending a helping hand to those less fortunate. While the Nelson Mandela Foundation continues to run activations and encourages every one to be an active citizen in their communities, so too is the City also involved in making a difference to the lives of its communities.

The focus this year on delivering food parcels, making masks and protective gear or even teaching online or making donations to these efforts. In line with this, the Executive Mayor Cllr Mzwandile Masina and Members of the Mayoral Committee will, on Mandela Day, will hand out sanitary towels, food parcels and face masks to identified in need residents of the City. But it doesn’t stop there, Mandela Month continues throughout July – if you are able to, please make a difference in someone else’s life; make everyday a Mandela Day
