MMC Makhosazana Mabaso Sends Condolences to Family of Deceased Young Boy

Member of the Mayoral Committee (MMC) for Environment Resources and Waste Management Services Cllr Makhosazana Mabaso has sent condolences to the family of 11-year-old boy Andile Dlamini, who died after he was hit by a goalpost pole at Mayfield Community Park, Extension 5, in Daveyton on Tuesday, 18 August.

The Mayfield Community Park was under construction during the incident.

“We are saddened by this incident. We also plead with the community to stay away from construction sites while work is still ongoing as this poses a serious danger to human life,” said MMC Mabaso.

Furthermore, MMC Mabaso together with representatives of companies contracted to the City to work at the Mayfield Park, visited the family to offer their condolences and provide support.

Work that has already been completed at the Mayfield Park include:

  • Site clearance
  • Earthworks
  • Fencing
  • Irrigation
  • Pedestrian paving
  • Amphitheatre
  • 5-aside football pitch
  • Lawn
  • Gym and play equipment

The Mayfield community park is set to be completed in October and handed over to the community in November 2020.
