Online Creative Writing Course

Join in on the fun and challenging writing workshops and explore the arts of poetry, fiction, nonfiction, and playwriting.

The City is running workshops led by professional writers, who follow a simple teaching model: READ, WRITE, and SHARE.

  • READ creative writing literature, works of published writers and manuals to discover the techniques, strategies, and tools that make writing vivid and compelling.
  • WRITE, practicing the arts of storytelling and poetry.
  • SHARE – short stories from the participants may be publish as an anthology that will also be in all the City libraries.

Workshops are held over a five-day period for three hours at a time and are capped at 30 students. The online sessions will be on Microsoft Teams and anyone over the age of 16 is welcome to register for the course.

The workshop starts on 1 June and closing date to get your registration in is 21 May 2021. You can collect a form from your nearest library, or download it here. Either drop off the form at the library or email it to info.libraries@ekurhuleni.gov.za

Access to Microsoft Teams will be necessary in order to participate; CoE libraries will make the resources available for interested successful candidates.
