The City Urges Protesters to Refrain From Vandalising Road Infrastructure

A stern warning is issued to anyone vandalising municipal infrastructure.

Head of Department for Roads and Stormwater Sizwe Cele advises residents to not take their anger out on the City’s infrastructure during any protest action.

“Service delivery protests is not an excuse for vandalism. Peaceful marches is everybody’s right but it becomes a crime when our road infrastructure and other municipal properties are vandalised,” said Cele.

The damage to road infrastructure includes burning of tyres on the tar road, as well as breaking traffic and street lights.

Residents are encouraged to report vandalism to the City’s call centre on 0860 543 000 or call the police on 10111.
