SPEAKER, OFFICIATES SWEARING IN OF NEW DEMOCRATIC ALLIANCE COUNCILLOR

On Tuesday, 27 February 2024, the Speaker of Council in the City of Ekurhuleni, Cllr. Nthabiseng Tshivhenga, officiated the swearing in of a new Democratic Alliance Councillor.

Cllr. Marinda Beukes, took her oath of office before the Speaker in accordance with Rule 11 (1), (2) and (3) of the City of Ekurhuleni Standing Orders By-Law.

These rules make provision for Councillor’s to swear or affirm their faithfulness and obedience to the Republic, the Constitution and Council before the magistrate in a Council meeting; or at any time by arrangement before the Speaker in the Speaker’s Office.

Cllr. Tshivhenga welcomed the Councillor, who can now participate in the official business of Council and wished her well in serving the people of Ekurhuleni with integrity and upholding her sworn oath.
