CITY INITIATES INVESTIGATION INTO CAR FIRE INCIDENT AT KROMVLEI CEMETERY

The City of Ekurhuleni is aware of an unfortunate incident that occurred earlier today at the Kromvlei Cemetery, where a vehicle caught fire. We wish to assure the community that the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department and our Disaster Management Services promptly responded and are on-site to extinguish the fire and ensure the safety of the area.

The city has initiated an investigation, through our Fire Safety Division, to determine the cause of the fire. We take such matters seriously and are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our community.

We would like to clarify that it is not the policy of the City of Ekurhuleni to use fire for grass cutting or maintenance at our cemeteries. We adhere to strict protocols and safety measures to prevent such incidents and will take the necessary steps to reinforce these practices.
