Elders Respond On Call To Renew Licenses

Pensioners in the City of Ekurhuleni came out in their numbers to renew their driver’s licenses on Saturday 27 March at Springs, Boksburg and Kempton Park Driver’s License Testing Centres. The City has dedicated the day to focus on the renewal of licenses exclusively for the elderly at these centres.

“We have set aside this day to dedicate our service to the elderly of the city. We are planning to sustain this campaign and roll it out to other centres, every last Saturday of the month. The positive feedback we have received when we interact with the elderly as well as the challenges they face makes us to consider sustaining the campaign, said MMC for Community Safety Cllr Pheladi Mmoko during his visit to the license centres on Saturday.

“Covid-19 has taught us that the elderly are most vulnerable to get contaminated with the virus. We want to separate the elderly from interacting with the rest of the population when renewing their licenses. We want to improve service delivery in the City, continuous feedback on how we can improve are most welcomed,”said Mmoko.
